Diet alone will not do excercise is equally important

Many people who are trying to lose weight do so simply by trying a diet fad or a new diet regime.  Often, however, they find that this doesn't work well for taking off weight.  In order to lose the most weight you need to combine a weight loss diet with an exercise program.  Exercise is necessary for many reasons.

First, exercise burns calories.  Calories are what the body uses for energy and are found in the foods we eat.  When we eat more calories than we burn in the excess calories become stored as fat.  Approximately one pound of body fat is equal to 3500 calories.  Everything we do uses calories.  In fact simply breathing uses calories.  However to use the most amount of calories the body needs to perform exercises.

People burn calories at various rates.  Someone who is more fit typically burns calories more efficiently than someone who isn't as fit.  Your individual metabolism may have something to do with that.  As you become more fit your metabolism will change allowing you to store fewer pounds.

Everything we do uses calories.  Standing burns about a hundred calories an hour.  It would take about 35 hours of standing to lose a pound of body fat.  As the exercise level increase so does the number of calories that it burns.  The more intense the exercise the more calories you will use up doing it.

For example taking an aerobics class burns about 450 calories an hour.  At that rate it would take about 8 hours to lose a pound of fat.  Bicycling or spinning burns calories at about the same rate while running burns more calories at about 700 an hour. It takes about 5 hours of running to burns the equivalent of a pound of body fat.

It is easy to see that you will need to increase your activity level in order to begin losing weight more rapidly.  You'll also need to be sure that the number of calories that you take in is fewer than the number of calories you need.  Exercising will help make sure that you are using more calories than you take in.  This will help you begin to burn stored fat.

The most important part about diet and exercise is that you need to exercise every day.  Start slowly because doing any type of exercise is going to increase your calories used.  As you become more fit you'll be able to increase your exercises.  Choose exercises that you like to do so that you'll do them willingly.  A good place to start for those who are just beginning a fitness routine is with a walking routine or with gentle stretching exercises.

Increase your exercise levels while decreasing your caloric intake.  This is the key to losing weight and to becoming healthy.  Add exercise to your day whenever you can.  For instance you can walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator or park further from the door so that you must walk further to and from your car.  Choose an exercise routine that you can do every day for at least 30 minutes.
